The Imagine Series - Scenario II - The CHASE

Alas! The second scenario of the (not-so) IMPRESSIVE, (not-so) LONG-ANTICIPATED IMAGINE scenario II !!

Ok anyways, here's it:

IMAGINE you are a sports athlete, perhaps not the best, but better than the average singaporean couch potato chump. Anyways, you're in your sports gear, all geared up for your afternoon jog around Bishan Interchange, or Ang Mo Kio if you don't favor Bishan. After your stretching exercises, you gear up at the head of the bus interchange, where you'll be running around the interchange, through the junction 8 walkways and towards the main road at the other end. As you take out your watch to begin timing, though, you see a very rare but commonly heard of scenario - a robbery of an old lady.

Now, you recognize the old lady. She's one of the buskers, who plays the harmonica near the entrance of Bishan MRT station. She's really not that good with the instrument, and she's just old, without any physical handicaps or anything, so you reckon the amount she earns isn't much.

Ok, so this young chap wearing a white T-shirt and running shorts darts past her, grabbing her bag (which probably holds all her stuff, her money, her precious harmonica, and everything else important that you would bring out with you). there are only a handful of people at the interchange at that time, and  for some dumb reason, the dude has decided to rob her when everyone can see him. And everyone did.

the dude rushes right past you, before your mind even registered what has happened.

They turn around to look for someone to help (except themselves, of course...come on, they're average singaporean couch potato chump material), and their eyes set upon you, the athletic and fit young champ!

As you turn to chase, for you know that he is definitely within chasing distance and speed, he turns around to see if anyone is on his tail.

At that instant, you recognize his face.

He was your best friend from 3 years back. He had quit school because his family had problems paying the school fees, apparently having some financial problems. You had offered your help and comfort alot of times then, but he told you he'd be back, and would return to school the next year to catch up. But he never did. You had then heard from your teacher that he could not return to school as his financial condition was purely beyond help, and that they were having some family conflict.

Flashback aside, you are now torn between nabbing your best friend, or deny the busking old lady of her future, money and happiness.

Now then, what would you do?

Decide quickly! Your best friend's about to disappear around a bend!!

Oh the next one shall be "IMAGINE you lived one the same street as Takeshi Kaneshiro. EVERYDAY when you walk your dog you pass by his house and he waves to you. ONE DAY HE FAINTED IN FRONT OF YOUR DOOR STEP..." LOL

anyway..I'll chase after him definitely. If I'm a saint I'll let him off and give the old lady all my money. But I'll probably get him to return the money to the old lady and see if I can help him financially. I wont report him to the police though, but will try to understand his family situation. There must be some sort of way out, perhaps the social workers can help. If he's able to rob and run then he's fit enough to work! If he's a bum who doesn't bother working then I wont help him anymore, I'll wash my hands off him.

In such a situation, I would continue to give chase and stop him. Insist he apologises to the old lady and hopefully she would understand of his plight.

Just chase after him, but deliberately keeping a short distance from him.

Once we're in some desolate place (like HDB area), just catch him and have a nice 'talk' to understand what is going on. Because he was (and maybe still is) my best friend, I'll make him pass me the items he stole from the old lady (so I can return them), then give him some money of my own and maybe try help him in any other way (find a job etc.). Obviously, I'll warn him if I see him robbing someone else again, he's dead... Gehehehe...

According to the avenger, that guy was a very good friend, still/that is why, I would not just stand and let him commit this mistake. The answer is CHASE.

If it was a random robber, it would be chase and maybe try to get him arrested, but this is a guy whom I know and is in shit so, I would get back what he took from the old lady but I would not report him.

-chase
-return stolen item
-ask him why
-tell him thats the wrong way

I will...

CHASE AFTER THE BUGGER.

then i will...

force him to apologize to the busker.

then i will...

SEND HIM TO THE POLICE.

LOL. that's evil. nah but i think i will just talk to him after he apologizes.
